Experienced printmaker Peter Lowe guided and facilitated an excellent etching workshop at the Central TAFE campus. Twenty teachers learnt low toxic processes for etching suitable for the classroom. The workshop was full of energy and enthusiasm as participants learnt techniques for embossing, methods for aquatint, as well as, hard and soft ground etching. An enjoyable and unforgettable professional learning experience. participants were fortunate to recieve a guided tour of the Cultural Warriors exhibition at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, viewing specific etching and works by Whistler and Jeffery Smart. Each participant took home etched artworks and useful notes provided about low toxic etching processes for the classroom.
