Low-Toxic Etching Report

This October holidays, the Art Education Association offered two Low Toxic Etching Workshops with Peter Lowe. We have been fortunate in the past to secure Peter’s expertise for this technique and it proved equally popular with full workshop attendance. This was a successful collaboration between the Art Gallery of Western Australia, TAFE central and the Art Education Association of Western Australia, with the aim to deliver quality professional learning opportunities for teachers.

The wheel throwing workshop held at Aquinas College facilitated by experienced Perth potter Sarah Hannah, was a resounding success. Sarah demonstrated techniques of wheel throwing and worked individually with participants to create bowls of beauty and unique form.

Throwing Pots at Toodyay

What a great day it was at the Picnic Hill Pottery up at Toodyay. Kim Lyons, the owner of this commercial pottery happily shared information and handy hints on the many aspects involved in creating hand crafted clay items to order. Watching Kim Lyons throw a 10kg lump of clay into a beautiful pot was just awesome.
