A tentative date of Thursday June 14 has been set down for the launch of our first Journal issue for 2012. Our Guest speaker is Andy Quilty an exciting young West Australian artist, whom I met at last years City of South Perth Art Awards – he received the ‘Emerging Artist Award’, the major prize for the portrait of his friend and WA rapper Matty B. Andy is also a feature artist in this issue, which has an ‘Indigenous Art’ focus.

CREATE & FLOURISH Art Educators Conference Sub Committee Meeting 27 April 2012

We are planning an ArtEdWA conference to be held in conjunction with the AGWA exhibition program. Our first planning meeting of the Conference Sub Committee will be on Friday 27th April, 4.15pm at the Art Gallery of WA. The conference will be relevant to all levels of Art Education.

A presentation on how students studying Visual Arts at Curtin University are instructed to make links to artists in their studio work linking this to their theoretical research.

A discussion will now be held at Wesley College as an opportunity to generate a feedback document to the discussion papers to be submitted to ACARA.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday 25^th February at 11am in The Art Gallery of Western Australia’s Theatrette.

Members are invited to join us for coffee and cake at 10am in the Gallery café prior to the meeting. Afterwards enjoy the opportunity to view Perspectives 2012.

Remember, early bird registration of $45 is still available until the day of the AGM, after that it will revert to the normal $50 membership fee. Become a member or renew now!

NB: Only financial members are able to vote at an AGM.

The ArtED Annual General meeting will be held on Satuurday, 19 February at the Heathcote Gallery in Applecross commencing at 11.00am. The Guest Speaker will be Tania Ferrier.
