Kim Lyons, the owner of this commercial pottery happily shared information and handy hints on the many aspects involved in creating hand crafted clay items to order.

Watching Kim Lyons throw a 10kg lump of clay into a beautiful pot was just awesome. He made it seem so effortless. Sarah loved her personal tuition session and threw a very worthwhile pot on her second attempt… while the rest of us roamed around the property after our shared picnic lunch, checking out the 360 degree views over the hills and valleys of picturesque Toodyay - just wonderful.

A visit to the Picnic Hill Pottery if you are ever up Toodyay way is a bonus. You can always call into their Lesmurdie property if you don’t want to travel as fas as Toodyay.

Twenty teachers learnt low toxic processes for etching suitable for the classroom. The workshop was full of energy and enthusiasm as participants learnt techniques for embossing, methods for aquatint, as well as, hard and soft ground etching. An enjoyable and unforgettable professional learning experience. participants were fortunate to recieve a guided tour of the Cultural Warriors exhibition at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, viewing specific etching and works by Whistler and Jeffery Smart. Each participant took home etched artworks and useful notes provided about low toxic etching processes for the classroom.
